The Tricks for Kids Awards Ceremony takes place on the big Open Air stage for the first time. Immediately afterwards, all the winning films from this year’s Tricks for Kids short film competition will be shown on the LED screen. Free of charge and in full length. Foreign-language films will have a live German voice-over for you.
In four quite different short film programmes, our children’s jury and the audience embark on a four-day adventure through the colourful world of animation. As diverse as the stories, topics, techniques and styles of the filmmakers in competition are, so too are the interests and preferences of the audience. We are excited to see our audience favourite being announced on Sunday when it will be honoured with the Tricks for Kids Audience Award. Everyone in the cinema can vote – not just kids, but grown-ups, too. But think carefully about which film you give your heart to.
The children’s jury doesn’t have an easy time either during the festival week. Films are watched, compared, discussed and favourites are passionately defended. Just the way it is in a jury. But at the Awards Ceremony, the young jury members are in agreement and present the Tricks for Kids Award to the strongest short film for children.
We will also show what can happen when children make animated films themselves by screening the film resulting from the Children’s Animated Film Academy 2023. And surely there will be even more great surprises!
