vhs
The entrepreneur Robert Bosch and reform pedagogue Theodor Bäuerle had a simple but groundbreaking idea: education for all!
In 1919, they laid the foundation for Baden-Württemberg’s largest public continuing education institution, which is now funded by the City of Stuttgart: the volkshochschule stuttgart, vhs for short.
With more than 5,000 training and further education offers annually, vhs brings the individual talents and interests of its participants to fruition; regardless of their social origin and educational level; in the heart of the city and so close to the people, that everyone benefits in their own personal way.
Around 200,000 participants attend events every year in the areas of vhs – society, politics and environment, culture and design, health, exercise and nutrition, languages – vhs intercultural, career and profession as well as vhs school for adults.
Cultural events, film festivals and series, exhibitions, readings as well as conferences and congresses have established themselves as an integral part of the vhs program at TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz. The vhs ökostation on the Wartberg and the children’s programme at the Treffpunkt Kinder round off the spectrum.
vhs stuttgart – Knowledge bears fruit.
