Your way to the Online Animation Library

The Online Animation Library (OAL) of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) offers the opportunity to view several thousand animated films. This special film project, which was created in cooperation with the Stuttgart City Library, comprises one of the largest archives for contemporary animated film worldwide and was supported in its development by the MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg. Founded in 2010, the OAL currently comprises around 8,000 films from more than 90 countries. The OAL reflects all styles, styles and themes of the worldwide animation film and thus offers a comprehensive insight into the diversity of animation. Animated films include animation films, animated experimental films, AnimDoks, complex computer animations and  expressive short films. The spectrum of topics ranges from politics to questions of migration and sustainability to everyday issues. Of course there are numerous animated films in the OAL that use the means of satire and comedy. Animated films for children can also be easily identified using the “Tricks for Kids” search filter.

Visitors to the Stuttgart City Library can access the OAL. In the Stuttgart City Library itself, exclusive viewing spaces are available on the Art level (8th floor). There is a special, age-appropriate offer for children and young people, which invites them to get to know other cultures and languages through the playful approach to animation.

Since 2020 the Goethe Institute is also partner of the OAL. All employees of the widspread Goethe Institute have now access to the OAL, as well as stationary viewing places giving access to numerous new viewers in selected libraries in various institutes around the world.
