Animation stars in Stuttgart – The winners of the 21st Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film | Resonance


Stuttgart – In 2014 the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) proved its reputation as a cultural highlight event and magnet for all animated film fans. With a new record of 85,000 visitors the previous year's figure was surpassed. The 21st edition of the ITFS surprised with numerous new locations like Renitenztheater, L-Bank and the New Castle. New programme highlights have been established – such as the extended Game Zone, the reorganization of the German Voice Actor Award as an independent gala event, as well as the introduction of industry event highlight "Stories and Series in the New Castle".

The Animated Com Award Ceremony held at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film


Stuttgart – The best productions in the field of applied animation received their prizes in the evening of April 25, 2014 in the Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart at the Animated Com Award (held at the 21st  Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film). In this competition the best applied animation in the fields of advertising, spatial communication and technology are awarded. Also the special prizes “Future needs Derivation – Individual Mobility” by the Daimler AG and the "Lapp Connected Award" by U. I. Lapp GmbH have been given.

Receptions, presentations, workshops and much more - The industry highlights at the 21stStuttgart Festival of Animated Film (April 22 - 27, 2014)


In addition to exciting competitions and a varied supporting programme, there will be numerous workshops and presentations by renowned industry experts and animation filmmakers, as well as events and receptions to network and exchange ideas – including the opening ceremony and the award ceremony (both events will also be live-broadcasted to the cinema Gloria 2).

ITFS 2014 | „Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has grown up“


Stuttgart – In a few days Stuttgart will be the global capital of animated film again. From April 22 to 27, 2014 at the 21st edition of the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) – one of the biggest and most important international festivals for animated film – can be seen the best animated films from all over
the world. In more than 200 individual events over 1,000 animated films, out of 2,300 entries, represent the entire spectrum of genres. There are numerous innovations in the competitions as well as in the main program. Thus, the German Voice Actor Award is presented for the first time in the special event “Animation & Comedy” in Renitenztheater. "We are very happy that the nominees Anna Thalbach, Ilja Richter and Josefine Preuß will each perform their own program point on stage, including, for example, a live synchronization," stated Prof. Ulrich Wegenast, artistic director of the ITFS. Posthumously the exceptional humorist Loriot will also be a guest: in a world premiere one of the most important German animator, Hayo Freitag (Werner 1 and 4, Captain Bluebeard etc.), presents the Loriot Animatic “The Egg”, in which the master of humorwas still creatively involved.

Animation Production Day 2014 – Looking for submissions of animation projects
Animation Production Day (APD), an event hosted by FMX 2014, Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Transmedia (April 22-25, 2014) and the 21st Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (April 22-27, 2014) takes place on April 24 and 25, 2014 for the 8th time. It is an event by Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg and Film- & Medienfestival gGmbH. As a business platform for the international animation industry the APD invites production companies worldwide to submit their animation and digital content projects for which they are searching for co-production, financing and distribution partners.

Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (April 22-27, 2014): CALL FOR ENTRIES ANIMATED COM AWARD | CRAZY HORSE SESSION
The Animated Com Award is now open for submissions in the field of applied animation. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding work in the areas of advertising, spatial communication, and technology, and a special award by Daimler AG. Partners of the Animated Com Award are Daimler AG, Lapp Kabel, ADC Deutschland, Mackevision Medien Design GmbH and Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart.
48 hours of non-stop animating at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film 2014 … once again it’s time to rise to the challenge. From now on till February 01, 2014 you can apply for participation in the live animation competition Crazy Horse Session – 48H Animation Jam.

CALL FOR ENTRIES: 21st Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (April 22-27, 2014)
Looking for the best animated films worldwide!
In 2014 Stuttgart will again open up the doors to the great world of animated film. And the competition for the golden Trickstars starts anew. The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) will offer a platform to filmmakers, directors and production companies to present their films and give the fans of animated film the chance to watch animated short and feature films of all genres for six days. The ITFS is one of the biggest and most important international festivals for animated film. It has developed into an essential event within the field of animated film in Germany and worldwide. Around 80,000 visitors and approximately 2,500 accredited professionals attended in 2013. An extensive supporting programme offers numerous workshops, informational events, presentations and much more. Yet it is the art of animation and the promotion of up and coming talent that makes up the core of the ITFS. The various competition categories award the Trickstars and cash prizes totalling more than 70,000 Euros.

Animation world in Stuttgart – The award winners of the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film have been selected
Stuttgart – With the 20th edition the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has strengthened its status as a highly important cultural event. Concerning the number of visitors the record of 80.000 people in the previous year has been achieved once more. The 20th edition again surprised with numerous improvements. “Since the long existing events in the local cinemas and at the Schlossplatz in the city centre of Stuttgart have won the heart of the visitors, we expanded the space of our activities in 2013”, said Dittmar Lumpp, Managing Director of Organisation and Finance of the ITFS’ organizer, the Film- und Medien-Festival gGmbH. In the first days of the festival more people visited the Open Air than ever before. Many of the film screenings in the cinemas were sold out. “The crowded cinemas show that the mixture of artistic short films, art house animated films and mainstream animated films has been well received”, as the Managing Director of the Programme, Ulrich Wegenast, declared gladly.

The Animated Com Award Ceremony held at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film

Stuttgart – The world's best productions in the field of applied animation received their prizes in the evening of Friday April 26, 2013 in the Mercedes-Benz Museum at the Animated Com Award held at the 20th   Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. In this competition, which was established in 2011, the best applied animation in the fields of advertising, spatial communication and technology are awarded with the Animated Com Award every year at the ITFS. Apart from the special prize Mercedes Benz Classic: Silver Arrows a new competition category called Lapp Connected Award has been created this year in co-operation with U.I. Lapp GmbH.

studio presentations, showcases of the works of animation artists like Atsushi Wada and Jakob Schuh and workshops presented by top-class professionals.

20th edition of the Festival of Animated Film
Stuttgart – Heaven on earth for all fans of animated film! The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) is the biggest and one of the most important festivals for animated film worldwide. And from April 23 to April 28, 2013 it opens again the doors to the worlds of animation. Around 1,000 of the best international animated films will be shown in Stuttgart representing the whole spectrum of the genre. The Simpons, Shaun the sheep, Maya the bee or the Mainzelmaennchen – all animated heroes are going to be around to celebrate the big animation jubilee together with professional visitors and fans.
