GameZone: Merz Akademie

Merz Akademie, University of Applied Arts, Design and Media, Stuttgart is a nationally accredited, non-profit university. With excellent technical facilities, the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs offer access to a wide range of media technologies and applications, knowledge, art and design. Students can combine the three areas of study – Film and Video, New Media, and Visual Communication – or focus on one area. The New Media program focuses on two main subjects: Web/UI/UX design, and 3D/VR/AR design.

2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Extended Reality (XR) in the New Media program at the Merz Akademie. Running a professional VR lab, it is one of the few German universities that have been offering VR and AR projects and courses since the early 2000s. This exhibition shows selected works from these periods as well as present current projects and collaborations.
