The Making of The Living Tapestry: Advocacy for African Women Entrepreneurs

This workshop talk presents the creative journey behind “The Living Tapestry”, a 6½ minute animated short film developed through a pan-African co-creation process. The project brings together artists and storytellers from several African countries and shows how collaborative animation can amplify authentic voices while advocating for women’s entrepreneurship across the continent. Commissioned by the Team Europe Initiative – Investing in Young Businesses in Africa, the film supports its vision of empowering young businesses and entrepreneurs across Africa, especially women.
The film’s story follows Amy, a young South African dreaming of starting her own business. Through a magical tapestry woven by her friend Remi, she encounters women entrepreneurs from Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Togo and Benin, each chapter reflecting the artistic style and culture of its country of origin.
The session includes a screening of the film and insights into the collaborative production process.
