Annegret Richter previously led the short film festival Filmfest Dresden and managed the animation film section at DOK Leipzig for five years. Since 2016, she has been the Managing Director of the AG Animationsfilm, the national association for Germany’s animation film industry. She also works as a film curator, lecturer in film and animation, and moderator for film events.

In the past year, she contributed significantly to the programme development of the International Animation Festival Stuttgart (ITFS), curates film programmes regularly, and serves on festival juries and selection committees.

After completing her studies in Communication and Media Studies at Leipzig University and Mercy University in New York, she worked for five years as a research associate in media studies at Leipzig University. She teaches at institutions such as the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and CEE Animation, is a member of the funding committees of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and Zurich Film Fund’s animation commission, and is on the board of the animation association ASIFA.
