Best of Animation 1 – Dancing in the Dark
25. April 2018, 19:00 - 20:30
All films I selected are built on brilliant cinematography, I picked them from my professional filmmaker’s point of view. And organized them according to the psychology of the creator.A permanent activity of creative people is DANCING IN THE DARK. With the voices of the past. With the puppets you animate. With your fears of what’s growing from the germs of filmmaking. The Anatomy of Absence will help you to imagine your partner. And even in the dark you could laugh. Animation shows the beauty of the abyss and the way to survive it: the humour of an artist on the other side. The ability to transmit to the audience a strong emotion through the art of animation is a powerful weapon. For the audience it means you could kill or get killed, and feel the pain. You could enter the door to the filmmaker’s mind and take a virtual reality-trip to the world created by her or him. I believe in film, and the power of universal cinematographic language. And I hope you will enjoy the Festival and the Best of Animation programme as much as I do.Olga PärnFilmmaker, Tallinn
