Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Institute of Animation: Subject Area Animation

If you want to make your own animated film, create breath-taking visual effects or develop an interactive experience, you’re in good hands at Animationsinstitut. The institute offers students who specialise in Animation and Interactive Media subject-specific training and individual content supervision with state-of-the-art software and hardware technology. The two-year basic study period is the same for students of all subjects in the area of Film + Media. After the basic study period, the institute’s students can concentrate on their third-year and diploma projects during the 2.5-year project period. Interdisciplinary team work is a primary focus of these projects. The Animationsinstitut views itself as an educational institution oriented on the practice. That is why the curriculum is part of a constantly expanding network of internationally renowned guest instructors, partners from the private sector, leading national and international film academies, and speakers from the FMX, International Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media, all of which offer students important networking and career opportunities. The Animationsinstitut’s alumni are in high demand – even their diploma projects have had great success at large festivals.
