Focus Croatia: Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb
7. May 2017, 14:00 - 15:30
The Department of Animated Film was established in 1999. It is unique at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in which it encourages parallel mastering of classical animation techniques and learning the techniques of new media and contemporary art practices, especially those of conceptual nature. Students demonstrate a wide range of approaches to narrative design, animation techniques, directing and aesthetics, as a result of encouraging individuality and creativity, with the aim of developing a high-quality artistic personality in the traditional modernistic spirit of the Zagreb School of Animated Film. Films also evidence that students follow contemporary tendencies and do not hesitate to experiment with film as a medium. Combining those two approaches, each student forms a recognizable personal style as a foundation for future career development. MA graduate works are in the regular distribution of Zagreb Film, with which the department has signed a cooperation agreement.
