GameZone Talks: Democracy – Just a funny game?

When programmers try to create games which emulate democracy, a certain concept of democracy needs to be presupposed. In order to prepare for the democracy hackathon we will therefore take a closer look at the different kinds of normative ideas linked to the concept of democracy. Does democracy mean that „the people“(whoever that may be) can rule without restraints? In what way is the sovereign will of the people limited by rules or natural law? How can the idea of the Separation of Power be implemented? The input will show that there is no neutral conception of democracy and that choices need to be made.In preparation of the Democracy Game Jam Hack for Europe, various models of concepts of democracy are taken into account.
