Jochen Kuhn’s films so far have been only available in their German-language versions. “Painting in Motion” for the first time presents the English-language versions of 7 of Jochen Kuhn’s animated shorts that have been produced in spring 2018.“… When the film SONNTAG 3 won first prize in the animation category at the festival in Tampere/Finland in 2013, during the award ceremony I saw that more than half of the linguistic/dialogue references in the film text hadn’t even been understood. And I thought: if a film can win 1st place even though half of the dialogue wasn’t even understood – how successful could it be if people could understand everything! English-language versions certainly could open new doors in Englishspeaking countries. We picked nine of my films, found Holly-Jane Rahlens, who made an amazing new translation, and Eric Hanson, who provided a great American voice for the movies.
