Mind the Gap! – L’Ange

L’ANGE peeks into the chambers and expanses of a building that, together with its staircase, defies architectural logic and is home to illusion. Here a fencer duels with a puppet, a man without hands grabs for a mug, and a person takes a bath with exaggerated delight. Disquieting, funny, often puzzling rituals and futility. Patrick Bokanowski worked on each individual image of his shooting to the electric-acoustic compositions of Michèle Bokanowski. He broke down the movement and re-formed it in grotesque dances and photographic sculptures. With prisms and lenses, he made light itself into the actor. By manipulating the “real” starting material, the Bokanowskis create unconscious connections between two realities. A masterpiece that, according to the Brothers Quay, can only “be soaked up with the eyes and ears”.André Eckardt
