Pop culture has always been a window to the future, and the pop-cultural reality of life does not only have great influence on companies and inventors in the technology sector, but often anticipates technical innovations by decades.On the other hand, technological innovation has just as much influence on pop culture. In addition to media such as YouTube, Spotify and Netflix having fundamentally changed the reception and consumption of film and music, immersive media now offer new possibilities to create pop-cultural media and new ways of interacting with recipients.The international conference I/P/D [immersion][popculture][distraction] explores and investigates the interfaces between the lifeworlds of pop culture, virtual reality, and fictionality by means of immersive media, video games culture as well as film and music media. With talks, keynotes, panels, master classes and workshops, experts provide insights and outlooks at the transitions between immersion and distraction. The conference will be conducted in English.
