Rework vs. Max Hattler

Audio meets video – sound meets vision. The curated DJ set by Rework on the topic of Europe – a main topic of this year’s International Festival of Animated Film – is accompanied by Max Hattler with audiovisual abstractions and live elements.Rework are: Michael Kuebler, Daniel Varga, and Elmar Mellert. Their musical aesthetics is regarded as New Wave House. For this they combine minimal structures with catchy Euro-girl vocals, Anglo-French funk antics, and a pinch of dance-floor melancholy. Their first international club hits were “Love Love Love Yeah” and “You’re Just Just”. Since then, their tracks have been remixed by many artists including Trentemøller, Paranoid London, and Andrew Weatherall.Max Hattler concerns himself primarily with abstract animation, video installations and audiovisual performance. His works explore the relationship between abstraction and figuration, aesthetics and politics, sound and image, as well as precision and improvisation. With presentations around the globe and as the recipient of international awards, the German artist holds a doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London and is an Assistant Professor at the City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media.
