The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023!

A reason to look back on a success story that would not have been possible without the visions and commitment of the makers and the staff, the long-lasting bond with national and international animation filmmakers, the support of sponsors and politicians and the wonderful audiences. But it is also a reason to look to the future with anticipation because animation does not stand still but continues to develop.

Founded in 1982, the ITFS has established itself as a globally outstanding event for animated film that presents the enormous spectrum of animation, with its intersections with visual effects, games, architecture, art, design, and music, among others. The ITFS demonstrates how animation and games can combine technological innovation, socially relevant issues, and entertainment to appeal to different target audiences and generations. It celebrates animation in all its creativity and diversity with film screenings, exhibitions, lectures, workshop talks, master classes, VR events and animated live performances.
