Mihai Mitrica
Mihai Mitrică is co-founder and director of Animest, a leading animation film festival with a 20-year history and Romania’s only Oscar-qualifying event, held in both Romania and the Republic of Moldova. He is an experienced film curator and selector, focusing on animation, Romanian shorts and genre cinema, and regularly curates programmes for international festivals and special cinema events. Mihai actively promotes Romanian film at major industry platforms such as Annecy’s MIFA and Clermont-Ferrand and frequently serves on international juries. Since 2014, he has produced a slate of acclaimed animated short films with some of Romania’s most prominent talents. His recent co-productions include Cradle, Amok (winner of the Annecy Cristal) and Simply Divine (awarded at DOK Leipzig and IDFA). He has also lectured on contemporary animation at the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC) in Bucharest.
