AniMovie Special: Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed
Silent Film with Live Music by Members of SWR Symphony Orchestra
A special experience awaits the audience on Friday, 8 May at 6:30 pm: THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED, the earliest surviving feature-length animated film in cinema history, will be brought to life anew in an extraordinary live accompaniment featuring the original score.
The following members of the SWR Symphony Orchestra will accompany the 1926 silhouette film by Lotte Reiniger live, lending the intricate figures and fairy-tale imagery a fresh musical dimension:
Larissa Fernandes, violin
Anna Mazurek, cello
Elya Levin, flute
Ivan Danko, oboe
Lars Jönsson, piano
Anton Brezinka, conductor
The result is a striking interplay between early animation artistry and contemporary interpretation – paying tribute to the pioneer of this animated classic, Lotte Reiniger, and her style-defining animation technique.
Presented in cooperation with SWR, the event vividly demonstrates how vibrant film history can be – and how music can enrich visual storytelling in a truly distinctive way.
