Offenburg University

At the state university of applied sciences, Offenburg houses modern studios for stop motion and computer animation, visual effects design, interactive media, video and sound. Here students know each other and build strong teams for animation and film production. The supervision from professors and staff is also more individualised than at most other universities. The film festival SHORTS – a tri-national film festival on the Upper Rhine – annually offers students the chance to show their films for the first time with awards totalling 10,000€. The B.A. programme “media.design and production” (m.gp) creates a refugee for the personal and artistic development of students who are aiming for careers in film, animation and interactive media. m.gp conveys the principles of classic animation, computer animation, visual effects design, scripts, film, sound, graphics and interactive media. In advanced semesters, animation and VFX can be chosen as concentrations. As a complement to the M.A. programme “Media and Communication”, a Master’s programme “FILM” is to be set up in which applicants can choose among concentrations in feature films, documentary films, animated films and intermedial films.
