PIXCOMM – Selling Animation in Africa, an uphill Battle!
Pixcomm is a 2D studio from South Africa. They have produced four seasons of “Jabu’s Jungle” and a new series titled “Zizi & Hannibal”, focussed on providing African characters, settings and animals to African children. “Jabu’s Jungle” has been broadcast across 40 African countries to become the biggest children’s show on the continent. The company has now embarked on providing merchandise and licensing with local brands representing local culture.

CABBLOW STUDIOS – GAMECHANGERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA
Cabblow Studios is an award-winning animation and illustration studio based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The studio creates short films, animated series and specialises in medical animation. Now in its 7th year the studio has managed to achieve great heights.
Cabblow Studios was founded by a mother and daughter duo – Kabelo “Cabblow” Maaka and Dr Tshepo P. Maaka a.k.a Dr T. Kabelo leads the artistic team as the Creative Director and Dr T is the Head of Business Development and Director of Medical Animations. Since 2017 the studios have carved out a niche in medical animation producing more than 30 client and in-house shorts, some of which were officially selected for the festivals in Annecy and Cardiff and for the Goethe Science Film Festival.
