Garbage Memories
An animated short film in early development that blends documentary and fiction, based on a set of letters and family photos discovered near a
dumpster. The letters, written in an intimate and nostalgic tone by a
woman, leave us wondering what led to the lack of response. These words
will guide the narrative, unfolding a story that intertwines with family
photos capturing moments of joy, contrasting with the woman’s struggle
within her own illusory love story.
Founded in 1991 in Porto, Portugal, Animais AVPL is an animation studio focused on innovation, experimentation, and raising awareness. It encourages artists to use a mix of techniques and combine different genres. The studio blends digital work with children’s drawings, documentaries with animation, and animation with real images. It explores themes such as memory, the human condition, the unspoken words across and between cultures, and our place in the world.
