Sets and Puppets from the Film “Savages”

The exhibition offers a fascinating insight into the world of the stop motion animation film “Savages,” a work by renowned director Claude Barras together with Catherine Paillé, produced by the Swiss production company Nadasdy Film.
Released in 2024, the feature film tells the touching story of Kéria, a young girl from Borneo who rescues a baby orangutan named Oshi and, together with her cousin Selaï, fights against the destruction of the rainforest.
At the center of the exhibition are six large, detailed sets and accompanying puppets created for the elaborate stop-motion animation. Each element reflects the vibrant atmosphere of the tropical forest and brings the characters and their emotional challenges to life. Visitors can get up close to the handcrafted puppets of Kéria, Selaï, and Oshi, and see the impressive miniature worlds of the plantations, forests, and a waterfall.
The exhibition not only highlights the technical artistry behind the production of the sets but also reveals the film’s profound themes: the fight against environmental destruction, the protection of endangered species, and the resistance of indigenous communities against economic exploitation. Come along to experience the magic of the film while reflecting on the pressing ecological challenges of our time.
