Making of: German Children’s Series

“Die Sendung mit der Maus” (WDR) and “Unser Sandmännchen” (MDR/RBB/NDR) have perhaps always been, and certainly still are, the most beloved children’s programmes on German television. Studio Monströös produced the animated series “Neon & Bor” for “Die Maus”, based on the books by Marc-Uwe Kling and Jan Cronauer. And Blaue Pampelmuse developed “Kito, Maja und die Kugelkiste” for “Sandmännchen,” based on Sorbian fairy tales.
Both teams share their experiences and explain why animation for children is especially challenging.
