We are living – without doubt – in special times. For more than a year now, our daily routine has consisted of washing our hands (‘WYH’), keeping our distance (‘Where are you now?’), isolation (‘Quarantine’), boredom (‘Words of Boredom’), self-doubt (‘Forever’), conspiracy-mongers everywhere (‘Anatomy of a Worldview’).
And yet artists worldwide manage to draw creative potential even and especially from these dark times. Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures, and so this extraordinary programme brings together all the diversity of artistic expression concentrated on a theme that the world is unanimously fed up with – actually. And yet it is worthwhile to let these compiled perspectives on the sink in. Humorous, thoughtful, poetic and sometimes even strangely prophetic, the works illuminate life in and after the global lockdown.

Completed before the global lockdown, “Empty Places“ is an ode to the melancholy of machines.
“Jeijay” begins where most romantic movies end. The film is about two people who try to repress the slow but inevitable decay of their relationship. Feeling isolated in their own little home, more and more of the happy facade of their love life comes crumbling down.

A little something for worried souls.

A father sends well-wishing voice messages to his filmmaker son confined in self-isolation far away from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The feeling of boredom. Everybody knows it and yet there is a different description of it in every language. The short film “Words Of Boredom“ visualizes sayings around the topic of boredom. In a montage of different odd scenes the film reveals how different people verbalize the feeling of boredom in their language.
200 years have passed between the time of cholera in the 19th century and today’s time of Corona, but in Iran the attitude of those in power towards medicine haven´t changed much.
Every day I hear a strange song in my head and see hands performing a weird hygiene ballett. Now you can hear and see it too.
In a heavily polluted world, a young woman mourns the disappearance of animal species. When she falls ill due to a bacterial infection, nature appears to send her a message in her hallucinations.
“Right Now“ is a (very) short film about a shared moment, and a meditation on the fact that if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we’re all in it together.
