Memory Hotel – A quarter of a lifetime for a film

Animation needs the privilege of taking its time. Daily life demands the opposite. Work on “Memory Hotel” started in the mid-nineties of the last century and lasted more than 25 years. What happens when reality breaks into the film plot? Or, on the contrary, when the film seems to lose its relevance because the world outside the film studio is spinning too fast and is constantly changing? Which strategies are needed to endure this contradiction and, in the best case, to turn it into something productive? Does animated film even fit into everyday life?
Heinrich Sabl provides insights into his work on “Memory Hotel”, asks questions, casts doubts and searches for answers.
