25 X ITFS: The Anniversary Programme

The programme, which lasts around 2.5 hours, will include a selection of award-winning films from the early days of the Festival of Animated Film until 2017. Because it would take more than 6 hours to show all the award-winning films from all 25 ITFS Festivals, we are focusing on the winners of the Grand Prix and the awards from the state of Baden-Württemberg and the city of Stuttgart. And still, because of time restrictions we had to make a selection, which in no way lessens the audience’s enjoyment of the films! Award-winning films include those from Oscar-winners Koji Yamamura, Simone Massi and the Quay Brothers. We will also honour the award-winner from 1992, Priit Pärn with “Hotel E”, in an In Persona programme this year! We are especially happy that we can show the first film to win an award at the ITFS in 1982, “Un Matin Ordinaire”, for which a digital version was created just for this year’s ITFS celebration! Other award-winning films can be viewed in other programme points, for example Jochen Kuhn’s “Neulich 1” (award from the city of Stuttgart, 2000) in the In Persona special programme “Painting in Motion” or Christopher Hinton’s “Flux” (award from the state of Baden-Württemberg, 2004) in the programme “Best of Animation 4”. At the 25th Festival of Animated Film, there are many past and future award-winners to be seen. That is why it is worth taking a look at the many special programmes, curated series and retrospectives! The Anniversary Programme will have a 15-minute intermission.
