Hanacaraka – A Tale of Java

On his journey through the mystical island kingdom, the folk hero Aji Saka faces many dangers and, through cunning and courage, frees a people from the clutches of a tyrannical man-eater, yet dooms his loyal companions to a tragic fate through recklessness and arrogance. In their honour, he composes the HANACARAKA – a poem which also forms the cornerstone of Javanese writing and language.
